Expressions of Interest are now open for our Emerging Older Writers Residencies

Are you a Canberra local over 60 with a passion for the written word? Noted Writers Festival invites you to spend four days immersing yourself in a project of your choice as part of our new residency series in partnership with Libraries ACT.

This residency is designed to support emerging older writers to focus on and develop a work in progress (fiction or non-fiction). You do not need to have a publication history to apply.

The residency will take place from 3-6 May at Civic, Dickson or Kippax Library. One residency will be offered at each branch.

Residents will receive:

  • a $200 honorarium
  • a dedicated room and desk to write (writers will need to bring their own laptops or writing materials)
  • a welcome and tour of the facilities and collection by library staff
  • feedback on a 1000-word writing sample from award-winning author Marion Halligan (at the conclusion of the residency)
  • editorial support and assistance with pitching to publications from Noted Writers Festival staff

Residents will be asked to deliver a short talk and perhaps share their work as part of Libraries ACT's winter events series.

For questions about the residency, please write to

Closing date: 21 April

This residency is in partnership between Noted Festival and Libraries ACT.  Noted Festival is supported by artsACT.
