After exploring the features of radio plays and story narratives, this workshop will develop a radio play through improv that will later be played on Scissors Paper Pen's own radio show.

How to apply: Applicants are asked to submit a few sentences on what piques their interest about radio plays and any experience they have with them, be it writing them obsessively, listening to them occasionally or pure curiosity. Workshop: Improving the Lines of your Poetry // Paul Magee

In this workshop Paul Magee (Associate Professor of Poetry at University of Canberra, author of Cube Root of Book & Stone Postcard) will get you to focus on individual lines, so as to think about what a line does in its own right, and how each can be made better.

How to apply: Please include a haiku with your application. Successful applicants will be asked to bring along four haikus to the workshop. Email applications to notedfestival@gmail.com with 'Poetry' in the subject line.

Applications close: March 14 2015.

Here's some haiku advice from Paul: Please ignore syllable counts. Just treat them as 3 line poems. For a further idea of how to do this, try, in sequence and by line, to 1. Take us somewhere, 2. Focus us in on what's there and 3. Take us somewhere else altogether (but in relation to the same material you touched on in 2 & 3).
